Lea Stephenson - is a contemporary artist currently residing in Florida with her husband and poodle. Working primarily in acrylics on canvas she creates richly layered compositions of flowers, lily ponds and female silhouettes. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive into new worlds finding joy in her gardens and underwater worlds. Her paintings give the feeling of being submerged in blossoms that drift like constellations and light ripples through imagined oceans.
The daughter of an award-winning abstract artist, she grew up in the Midwest with two sisters who are also artists. At an early they were introduced to various styles of abstract and impressionistic art. By 6 they were familiar with all of the great masters. Her mother taught her to paint without caution, to take risks, and love what you create. She has traveled across the US and Europe constantly finding new sources of inspiration.
Her latest series "Exploration of Joy" transforms familiar forms into fields of pointillistic energy. Each piece captures wonder and constant motion, finding a sense of joy in a place between chaos and calm. She has sold her work all across the US and continues to show locally in the Southeast.
